The M3902 Ultrasonic Flow Meter Features:
- Employs doppler technology; the flowmeter uses piezo-electric transducers to transmit and receive an acoustic signal reflected off discontinuities in a liquid flow stream
- This technology provides the following benefits:
- No cost installation- just strap transducer around outside of pipe
- Systems do not need to be shut down for periodic or portable measurement
- Chiller systems may be balanced in a fraction of the time
- Can be used on a range of liquids from waste streams to clean water systems
- Microprocessor allows simple calibrated set-up for pipe diameter so that the meter will readout in volumetric total, ie GPM
The doppler ultrasonic flowmeter utilizes a clamp-on, piezoelectric, trans-ducer to transmit ultrasound through a pipe wall and into a flowing liquid. The ultrasonic signal is reflected from suspended solids or entrained gases drawn out of solution. (Entrained gases are drawn out of solution by a hydraulic disturbance such as 90° elbow.) A second transducer receives the reflected sound and the meter’s circuitry compares the transmitted and received frequencies. If the liquid is moving, a frequency shift occurs which is proportional to fluid velocity. The signal processor converts this frequency shift to fluid velocity and allows the rate to be displayed in a variety of user selectable units.
